The Amish Quilt

Quilts are a luxury in Amish culture. Amish women put a lot of time into making very colorful and beautiful quilts and some of the Amish that make Quilts sell them outside of the community in stores. Some Amish Quilts are decorated with flowers on them and some Quilts have religious sayings and symbols on them. What is unique about Amish quilting is the way they are stitched to be intricately in a beautiful pattern. The Amish enjoy decorating in this fashion because to them they want it to represent their life and society and family. The many significant meanings behind each quilt made varies depending on their design and aesthetic patterns, there are quilts designed for a special day like if a couple is getting married or if a baby is born the work and effort put into making these special quilts will symbolize through the beauty of these quilts the special occasion of the event. The most typical Amish quilt are made with polyester and the entire work to stitch the designs and colors are done entirely by hand.
